Day 1: Flight to Managua - GranadaUpon arrival at the airport, meet and transfer to Granada. Overnight at Granada.
Day 2: Granada - Masaya volcanoAfter breakfast transfer to Masaya Volcano National Park, which has an area of 54km² that includes two volcanoes and five craters. A paved road takes us to the very edge of the impressive and active Santiago crater. It is one of the few places in the world where a crater can be observed at such a short distance. Back in Granada, we visited the city, one of the most beautiful in Central America: the La Merced Church, the Crossed Street, the Church of Xalteva, the Cathedral and the Church of Guadalupe, the Convent Museum of San Francisco. Overnight at Granada.
Day 3: Granada - Mombacho Volcano - Islands - GranadaAfter breakfast, visit Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve; from the dry region to the base of the volcano, passing through coffee farms, entering the forest of clouds and light humidity. Once at the top, we begin the journey along a 2.5-kilometer trail, along which we will discover an unusual collection of orchids, ferns, butterflies, birds and from where we can enjoy a beautiful view of Granada and its surroundings. In the afternoon we visit the channels of the charming Isletas, an archipelago of more than 300 islands located at the foot of the impressive Mombacho Volcano. Return to Granada.
Day 4: Granada - Apoyo LagoonBreakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Apoyo Lagoon, one of the most beautiful lagoons in Nicaragua formed by a volcanic crater. Its abundant biodiversity and the calm waters of the lagoon make of Apoyo an inescapable destination, in which we can swim, sail in kayak or simply walk while we admire the landscape. Accommodation next to the lagoon, where at night we admire the flight of hundreds of fireflies.
Day 5: Apoyo Lagoon - LeónAfter breakfast, transfer to León city, ancient capital of Nicaragua, founded in 1610. We visited the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, one of the most beautiful of the continent and the largest in Central America, declared in 2011 a World Heritage Site. In it we find the tomb of the poet Rubén Darío, among other important characters. We also visited the Rubén Darío House-Museum and the art center of the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation. Overnight at León.
Day 6: León - Cerro Negro - ManaguaBreakfast at the hotel, transfer to Cerro Negro Volcano, the youngest volcano in Nicaragua and currently active. We start a walk from the base of the volcano along a stone path to the summit from where we will have an incredible view of the Los Maribios volcanic chain. We recommend (optional) descend with surfboard from the summit, an unforgettable experience! After the descent, we continue towards the city of Managua.
Day 7: Managua - aeropuertoAfter breakfast, transfer to airportn to take the flight back.
Day 8: ArrivalArrivalat the home city.
Curiosly little known, it is the paradigm of Central American exuberance; volcanoes, jungles colonial cities, lost islands in an unprecedented Caribbean and above all, the endearing character of its people.
