Indigenous legacy

Itinerario

Day 1: Fllight to Managua - Granada
Upon arrival at the airport, meet and trasnfer to Granada. Overnight at Granada Hotel

Day 2: Granada - Volcán Masaya - Granada
After breakfast transfer to Masaya National Park, which has an area of ​​54km² that includes two volcanoes and five craters. A paved road takes us to the edge of the impressive and active Santiago crater. It is one of the few places in the world where a crater can be observed at such a short distance. Back in Granada, we visited the city, one of the most beautiful in Central America: the La Merced Church, the Crossed Street, the Church of Xalteva, the Cathedral and the Church of Guadalupe, the Convent Museum of San Francisco. Overnight at Granada.

Day 3: Granada - Mombacho Volcano - Isletas - Granada
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we visit the Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve; from the dry region to the base of the volcano, passing through coffee farms, entering the forest of clouds and light humidity. Once at the top, we begin the journey along a 2.5-kilometer trail, along which we will discover an unusual collection of orchids, ferns, butterflies, birds from where we can enjoy a beautiful view of Granada and its surroundings. In the afternoon we visit the channels of the charming Isletas, an archipelago of more than 300 islands located at the foot of the impressive Mombacho Volcano. Return to Granada.

Day 4: Granada - Laguna Apoyo
After breakfast transfer to Laguna Apoyo one of the most beautiful lagoons in Nicaragua formed by a volcanic crater. Its abundant biodiversity and the calm waters of the lagoon make of Apoyo an inescapable destination, in which we can swim, sail in kayak or simply walk while we admire the landscape. Accommodation next to the lagoon, where at night we admire the flight of hundreds of fireflies.

Day 5: Laguna Apoyo - León
After breakfast, transfer to Colonial de León city, the ancient capital of Nicaragua, founded in 1610. We visited the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, one of the most beautiful of the continent and the largest in Central America, declared in 2011 a World Heritage Site. In it, the remains of the poet Rubén Darío rest among other important characters. We also visited the Rubén Darío House-Museum and the art center of the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation. Day 6: León - Cerro Negro - León
Breakfast and transfer to Cerro Negro volcano, he youngest volcano in Nicaragua and currently active. We start walking from the base of the volcano by a stone path to the summit from where we will have an incredible view of the volcanic chain Los Maribios. We recommend (optional) descend with surfboard from the summit, an unforgettable experience! After the descent, we continue towards the city of León. Accomodation.

Day 7: León - Managua aeropuerto - San Carlos-El Castillo
Breakfast and transfer to Managua airport to flight to San Carlos, next to Cocibolca Lake and the entrance to the jungle area of ​​Río San Juan. Transfer from the airfield to the port to embark towards El Castillo, a town founded by the Spaniards in the 16th century to defend the area from the attack of the pirates who were going up the river from the Caribbean. Day 8: El Castillo - San Juan del Norte
After breakfast, sailing to San Juan del Norte and transfer from the port to the lodge.Walk around to observe flora and fauna. At night, observation tour of alligators, sloths and other nocturnal species. Accommodation and full board.

Day 9: San Juan del Norte
Breakfast and visit to Indio de Maiz Reserve in sailing by the river and the cemetery of Greytown. Accommodation and full board.

Day 10: San Juan del Norte - Managua
Breakfast and transfer to the airfield to flight to Managua. Overnight to Managua
